Description

NORTH SEYMOUR : This island is located north of Santa Cruz Island and is known for its large colonies of blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. Arriving at North Seymour, we will dry land and immediately begin hiking along a 1.5 mile trail where we can follow the coast clockwise or head inland to first visit the crazy colony. During this tour we will access the nesting sites of the largest chick colonies on the islands. At that point you will understand why Seymour is known for its rich wildlife. Get ready to spot land iguanas, marine iguanas, lava lizards, pelicans, and a colony of sea lions! As we progress along the trail, we see several trees where male and female frigate birds nest.

LAS BACHAS BEACH : also located north of Santa Cruz Island. Here we can go snorkeling or take a relaxing walk on the beach. For this we will carry out a wet landing, during which we will jump from the zodiac to the edge of the beach. We recommend that you disembark barefoot and wear light walking shoes.
Here we will find a lovely beach, ideal for swimming, with a lagoon behind and a longer beach for walking and spotting wildlife. The saltwater lagoon behind the beach is often home to large blue herons and small birds. Large and small beaches are nesting areas for green turtles. As for snorkeling, we will be able to see many types of colorful reef fish, various rays, among other marine species. At the end of our Bachas experience, we will return to the Itabaca Canal and return to our morning meeting point to finish our adventure for the day.
